The world of music and culture in general is in mourning after hearing the sad news of the death of Pau Donés, singer of Jarabe de Palo. After a long fight against cancer since August 2015, the artist died at 53, as his family reports on the group’s official social networks.

We would like to thank the medical team and all the staff of the Vall de Hebrón hospital, Sant Hospital Joan Despí Moisès Broggi, ICO (Institut Català d’Oncologia), Servei de Paliatius of the Viella Hospital and VHIO (Vall Hebrón Cancer Institute) all their work and dedication throughout this period. We ask for the utmost respect and privacy in these difficult times.”
After a year of absence, because he wanted to spend more time with his family and be off stage because of his illness, Pau Donés created his new song “Eso que tú me me”, sweeping digital platforms in late May 2020. its the fourteenth album, entitled “Swallows or spits”, will be available in physical format from June 29.
Jarabe de Palo was known in France in 2003 with the hit “Bonito”.

Born in the Spanish Pyrenees then settled in Barcelona, Pau formed his first group at only 15 years old with his brother Marc: J. & Co. Band.
Very well known in Spain in the rock group Jarabe de Palo, the artist had notably released the hit of the 2000s La Flaca which had been successful all over the world.
In 2015, the singer confessed to suffering from cancer after undergoing surgery on a malignant tumor in the large intestine.
After this operation, he announced his desire to raise funds for hospitals and prevention campaigns.
Two years later, the singer announced the recurrence of his cancer on his blog: “2017 was going to be a glorious year, suddenly I received a call from the hospital.
In the last check, the markers increased. I do a CT scan and, hidden in the peritoneum, we found a small tumor. ” An announcement that had upset all fans of the artist, very concerned for his health. In 2020, he released his latest album, a testament disc called Tragas o Escupes (“Avale ou Crache”).
Very close to his daughter, the singer had shared his last song on May 23, paying homage to him, entitled Eso que tu me das (Ce que tu me me). A last cry of love which already has more than 7 million views to its credit.
